Water for people, wildlife and livestock

A growing demographic pressure on vulnerable and unique ecosystems is the main threat to the conservation of natural resources, at the same time, communities without access to water, and women having to walk for 10 hours to access water, are incapacitated to engage adequately in programmes and strategies promoting sustainable development.

OEA’s commitment is to design and implement initiatives that allow remote rural communities to promote growth which is fair and equal by increasing the access to clean water, a basic human right, while emphasising the importance of preserving and fairly distributing ecosystem services.

OEA programmes include both infrastructural works and support for to the preparation and implementation of guidelines for the sustainable use of natural resources, in collaboration with Ministries, Agencies, Local Authorities and the final users.
